Synth-wave Duo, Crozet, Release Suburbia

New Release: Crozet – Suburbia

We’re kicking off the holiday weekend with a fantastic new album by Crozet. On Suburbia, the Philadelphia duo made up of John Helmuth and Sean Lee continue to build on their brand of breezy synth-wave while taking chances to explore other influences. A perfect example of this is their single “My Racing Heart” (Feat. Carl Cox) which leans into R&B and pop territory. Inspired by the works of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, “My Racing Heart” feels like it was made for your own 80’s themed dance party. On “Keep Waiting”, Crozet amps things up with a more standard rock approach that is built on layers of guitars and driving drums. Crozet is able to stray from their normal playbook and add these new influences into the mix with a confident ease – a product of making music together for over a decade. Of course, the ribbon around the entire package is their acute attention to detail in the production of Suburbia. The band’s love of experimenting with new gear and pushing themselves to be better musicians is on full display on the 8 tracks that make up the album. There is certainly a cinematic element to Crozet’s body of work, as if they’re writing the soundtrack for a film that hasn’t been made yet or maybe they’re scoring the soundtrack to your summer. Find out for yourself and listen to Suburbia now.

Beginning as a late night musical outlet during the last year of college in Philadelphia for John Helmuth in 2010, Crozet was formed with the much needed help from long-time friend and musician Sean Lee. Creating an epic wall of sound, built out of huge drums, creamy layered synths, reverb-drenched vocals and rich guitar tones, Crozet’s musical direction blends emotional John Hughes style film scores with an influential synth-rock background. 2022 brings new material from the band titled Suburbia. Lyrics speaking of love and loss, music evoking the innocence of childhood and teenage angst with a timeless blend of vintage and modern production.
