Bravo Delta: Are They “Unbreakable”?
American Hard Rock band Bravo Delta is set to release their newest album, Unbreakable, on February 1, 2019 – so for the past two weeks, I’ve been listening to the tracks from the album intently in an effort to bring you an honest review before the album’s release. Before we get down to it, let me be clear: I do like this album.
Hailing from Las Vegas, the band consists of Brandon Davis (Vocals/Guitar), Andy Ingraham (Guitar), Brian Scott (Drums), and Roman (Bass). Originally formed in 2011, they have two independent releases which include Sunset Wasteland (2012) and Shutdown Sequence (2013). They’ve had airtime on Sirius Octane and Pandora Radio, in addition to terrestrial radio stations across the nation; and they’ve shared stages with P.O.D., Adelita’s Way, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, The Used, Nothing More, Saliva, and Alien Ant Farm. Their reach extends to around 30,000 monthly on Facebook, nearly 20,000 monthly on Instagram,and over 12,500 views on YouTube. Don’t let these numbers fool you – while compared to other bands I’ve interviewed or reviewed, they might seem smaller – but once you hit that ‘Play’ button and let the music take over, I guarantee you’ll start to see those numbers rise.
In the single “Unbreakable”, I was blown away by the melodic strum of the guitar. Honestly, it reminded me of Dragonforce. Bringing in the harder riffs in tandem and it was a home run for me. What took me by surprise – and honestly took me a few different run-throughs to get accustomed to – was Brandon’s voice in contrast with the music. Now, let me clarify: I would just like to hear more power behind the voice. More strength. Those guitars and those drums are STRONG. For example, in the chorus line, I feel like it needs vocal fry screaming to harden it up and match the music – not necessarily changing the chorus, but maybe in the background. I honestly think (and this is just my opinion) that one tweak could really bring the song together.
The verdict? It truly is a good album with some super sick guitar riffs. It just needs that little something to bring more “oomph” to the vocals, and I think a little bit of screaming in the background is the key to match the music.
